This year's fourth issue of Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine has announced on Friday that a manga adaptation of the Time of Eve anime will launch in the next issue on February 19. Yuuki Ohta is drawing the manga.
Director Yasuhiro Yoshiura and Studio Rikka — the creators of the Mizu no Kotoba and Pale Cocoon anime — developed Time of Eve (Eve no Jikan) as a "non-hard science-fiction" story in 2008. The anime, which was watched over 3 million times online, deals with everyday life in a future Japan populated by robots and life-like androids. An upcoming film version will compile the six episodes of the original net anime series with new footage. Time of Eve the Movie: First Season Complete Edition will open in Japan on March 6.
Besides the manga, the anime has also inspired a March 18 novelization called Time of Eve: another act. Kei Mizuichi is writing the novel, and anime character designer Ryuusuke Chayama is illustrating it. Kotobukiya is publishing an official fanbook on February 26, and later this month, Shaddy is producing the "Evlend" original blend coffee that appears in the anime. Advance tickets were sold in December with a bonus DVD that contained pilot footage, an interview with Nagi voice actress Rina Satou, and a special theatrical trailer. The Crunchyroll website has been streaming all six net episodes.
